Express Entry

HOW DOES EXPRESS ENTRY WORK?

The Express Entry system is a newly proposed system of filing immigration related applications which became effective in January 2015. In this proposed system, instead of providing a completed immigration application form to the related visa office, applicants now must enter themselves into a pool system in which candidates wait for the invite from immigration authorities to submit their application. In this way, there will be a smooth flow of all applications and it will be easy to process the cases in time without any accumulation of backlog.

THINGS TO NOTE

Candidates those who fall into one the three categories-

• Federal skilled workers
• Federal Skilled
• Canadian Experience class

and desire to apply for Canadian PR must first calculate their CRS score and complete an online form providing their details related to foreign and Canadian work experience, proficiency of language ability, qualification, trade skills, and other associated information. The ones who meet the specified criteria of any of these immigration categories will be put into a pool system designed for candidates for the invite to apply for Canadian PR.

Those who do not have Canadian job offers but want to register themselves for express entry are supported by Labor market Impact Assessment (LMIA) in which candidates are required to register a Jobseeker account with the Job Bank, a website provided by government for people looking for employment in Canada.

CRS CRITERIA

Candidates in this system will be ranked based on their Comprehensive Ranking System scores. A cutoff score is decided by the regulatory bodies and candidates with the high CRS scores will be invited to apply for Canadian PR. After sending the invitation to the candidate, they will have 60 days to give an online application form for their PR. Once the application is received, the immigration authorities process these applications within six months.

The information regarding Express entry draws that take place on regular basis at the immigration authorities’ consideration gets displayed on Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s website.
